Bike maintenance evening classes

Hands on practical learning covering the basics of bike maintenance

Our courses are led by John, our senior mechanic and tutor, who will take you through the basics of bike maintenance step by step. This will help you to understand how your bike works and how to fix the most common problems that arise.

Basic Bike Maintenance (3 sessions of 2 hours each): This is a fun and friendly introduction to your bike and how to keep it on the road. We cover replacing an inner tube and repairing a puncture, replacing brake blocks and cables, general fault finding and bike care, and an introduction to indexing gears.

Next Steps Bike Maintenance (3 sessions of 2 hours each): If you are confident with the basics, join John to learn the next steps for keeping your bike in excellent working order. This course covers indexing both front and rear gears including changing cables, changing the chain and cassette on your bike, and an introduction to a topic of the groups’ choice.
