Bike maintenance evening courses 2023
Our evening courses are led by our senior mechanic and tutor John, who has a wealth of knowledge of bikes from shoppers to race bikes (and everything in between). Taken together they are designed to help you to understand how your bike works and fix the most common problems that arise.
The course, subsidised by Abingdon and Witney College, is divided into 2 sections which can be taken together or independently:
Basic Bike Maintenance (3 sessions of 2 hours each): This is a fun and friendly introduction to your bike and how to keep it on the road. We will cover how to replace an inner tube and repair a puncture, replacing brake blocks and cables, general fault finding and bike care, and an introduction to indexing gears.
Next Steps Bike Maintenance (3 sessions of 2 hours each): If you are confident with the basics, join John to learn the next steps to keeping your bike in excellent working order. This course covers indexing both front and rear gears including changing cables, changing the chain and cassette on your bike, and an introduction to a topic of the groups’ choice.
